I love this app. It is reliable and simple. My only problem with it is there doesn’t seem to be a way to disable the control panel. Everytime I load a video the control panel pops on the screen. I don’t need it and it’s annoying. Please add a way to disable control panel.

I really love this application. It is by far the best in MacOSX. i like the UI and the truth that it can actually utilize hardware acceleration for H.264. If I may ask for something more, I want to have a shortcut key to move the currently movie to trash, so that I don’t need to go to the playlist, right click and then chose ‘Move to trash’ Thank you!

Love to see that the best player for mac finally got a business model that will get the development going! Five stars for the encouragement, so now youll have to do your best to keep up with this rating ;)

Highly configurable. Opens all movie files so far (other free players was not able to). Renders subtitles on separate layer so they are crisp even if movie is low resolution.

Its a great app, thx. Is there some way to contribute code to the project? I found some git forks of google-code project, but they all seems died.

Please add Russian language and support for playback from another (second or third) displays!

Купил эту программу. Написал письмо автору, были вопросы некоторые. Ни ответа, ни привета больше двух месяцев. Had bought that app. Had email to app’ author and am waiting an answer about ~2 mounth. No mail/answer from author. My ask. "Good time, dear support team. With autumn days and good mood, no matter what you do. I wanted to decide that problem myself but have ask - how to enable the repeat interval? I set start and the end in film (cmd+[ and cmd+]) and see that interval was selected, but when the player play that interval it stopped on end of interval and have loop effect. I enable the playing with loop (ctrl+cmd+r) but that can’t help me. What do I not so?"

Best of previously used players for me. It may be better if the added audio device selection, for example to switch between Standart audio output and HDMI.

The best player for mac os ever! Can you add new quicktime skin (like in el capitan or yosemite) in next update? I hope that update for el Capitan won’t take long.

Simply the best movie player for mac…the only missing thing is the possibility to associate movist at file types directly from the app.

there have huge problem when play 1080p mkv and wmf with MPlayerX, But Movist can play it perfectly

Worked great for few hours. Now it crashes unexpectedly. Tried everything possible to reboot the app and still not able to play any media files. Please fix the bug as soon as possible..

You pretty much have to try them all and see which is the least worst for you. VLC has all the weird little features, but gets the basics wrong. It flutters to gray screen at the drop of a hat, doesn’t FF and RV without stuttering, and can’t even go to the next file on its own without setting up a tedious playlist. mPlayer is years out of date, except for the copies like sPlayer that the author doesn’t know how to improve. And Movist has preferences so unorganized you pretty much have to hunt the whole screen to find the next setting. But it gets the basics right: 1) beautiful interface, 2) FF/RV that are so fast and clear you can see where you are as the minutes tick by (good with HD, even better with SSD), 3) very few artifacts spoiling my content, 4) enough control I feel i control without so much I feel lost. Its the one I keep coming back to and the one everyone should start with in their own hunt for the perfect player.

I have just downloaded Movist and tried to play a movie. However, an error saying, “Movist is terminated unexpectedly” in Korean. So, I deledted and reintalled the app, but the same error keeps popping up.

Pros: Theres no pros. Cons: 1. Audio playback is missing a Normalization (dynamic range compressor) function. This means you’ll get extremly loud soundeffects while having quiet dialoges (or vice versa). 2. Sometimes, or rather often, subtitle disappears too quickly. I’ve tested with VLC with the same settings and never had problems. 3. Often the program slows down and have slow response whenever you press spacebar. Sometimes leads to overheat of the hardware. 4. Often subtitle doesn’t show upuntil you manually choose the right code among dozens. 5. Often automatically hides the screen right after you play the file. very annoying. 6. when minimizing the screen, the half top of the screen sticks outside the monitor. which means you won’t be able to move them around. 7. despite of numerous crashes and malfunction reports, the developer never tries to fix them. very rare updates. I wouldn’t use this program even if it were free. thank me and save your money from this.
